Our Vision of the Gordon Setter

As you may have gathered on the main page, we believe in breeding bird dogs, good looking bird dogs.

Here at Wyndancer Gordon Setters we'll not tell you that "show dogs" can't hunt, many people find serviceable bird dogs no matter what the breeding. However, we feel that the odds of getting a dog that can handle a wide variety of game birds goes up dramatically when dogs are being bred by dedicated bird hunters. Minnesota is a place in which we have the opportunity to hunt multiple species of game birds, those being Ruffed Grouse, Sharp Tailed Grouse, Pheasants and American Woodcock. We don't try to breed Best of Breed dogs, unless your definition of Best of Breed is a day in the field with your dog pointing birds.

As you've surfed around the internet you've seen picture of dogs, and since you're here we assume a Gordon Setter interests you. We happen to believe that we have some of the nicest Gordon pictures around. On some other websites you may see pictures of dead birds laying on the tailgate, you won't see much of those here, not that we don't shoot birds, or are opposed to shooting them. We prefer to show dogs working birds, not our skill with a gun. However those "dead bird" pictures don't tell you if those birds were pointed, and many people that hunt a pointing dog often tell stories of how many birds they killed, but few will admit to how many of those birds were pointed. We want our dogs to point birds, all of them.
